Meet the Newest Resident

In other thrilling news, a little star has joined the zoo’s animal family! On April 2, 2025, guests were treated to the heartwarming sight of a baby Tammar wallaby peeking out of its mother’s pouch in the Kangaroo Walkabout. This adorable joey is the offspring of Simone and Bandit, who made their way to the zoo in 2023. Can you imagine how tiny this little one is? Joeys start their life the size of a jellybean and spend around eight to nine months developing within their mothers’ pouches.

Growing Up Wallaby-style

As the days go by, this little joey will gradually venture out of the pouch for short walks while staying close to mom. By the time it reaches nine months, it will be mostly out in the open but will remain under the care of its mother until it’s about eleven months old. This adorable journey is sure to capture the hearts of many visitors!
